An HF-Radiometer in active mode

At the IPC-XIII, Davos Instruments has been successfully operating a Hickey-Frieden (HF) radiometer from Eppley Laboratory Inc. in active mode, using a slightly modified control unit Linard.

It has been found that the HF radiometer is very well suitable for active operation. While the HF-radiometer is traditionally operated in the passive mode, it has all the necessary features needed for active mode operation.

First results have been presented in the symposium of the IPC-XIII, a preprint of the proceedings-article is available here.

Successful start of the IPC-XIII

Finally the solar radiometry crowd gathers again in Davos, Switzerland. The 13th International Pyrheliometer Comparison (IPC) has successfully started. It is a great pleasure to meet again in person and to compare our instruments together. With close to a 100 absolute cavity radiometers present, it is an excellent opportunity to independently study the performance of the radiometers. Several PMO8, manufactured by Davos Instruments, are taking part in the intercomparison. Furthermore, Davos Instruments operates an Eppley AHF-radiometer in active mode: a premiere.

Happy Birthday

Davos Instruments celebrates its 5th anniversary. Founded in April 2016, we are looking back on five exciting years, including the launch of our PMO8 radiometer, the participation in the ESA-BIC programme and many enjoyable meetings with our customers.

Many thanks to our supporters, especially ESA-BIC Switzerland, Innovationsstiftung Graubünden and PMOD/WRC, for making this possible.
